Should i withdraw from this cl?

i failed a midterm very, very badly (like a 35 percent), but i need it for my major...it's a physics cl which is required for chemistry; it will set me back a semester, but I'm not sure if a withdraw would look bad or not? Our midterms each are only 10 percent of our grade and I'm doing well on homeworks, but I'm afraid that it would be bad for my gpa. should i withdraw and retake it next semester?
